Elgton Jenkins’ Role and Contract Situation in Green Bay
Since the release of David Bakhtiari after the 2023 season, Elgton Jenkins has become the Green Bay Packers’ most versatile and reliable offensive lineman, having played every line position except right guard. Last season, he was primarily at left guard. For the 2025 season, he’s transitioning to center following the free-agent addition of Aaron Banks, who is taking over Jenkins’ old role.
Jenkins signed a four-year, $68 million contract extension in late 2022. With $32.8 million left on that deal over the next two seasons, he is set to receive $11.7 million before the 2025 season begins. However, none of his 2026 salary is guaranteed, which has prompted Jenkins to seek a contract restructuring for more long-term security. As of now, reports suggest he does not expect the team to make any adjustments.
Recently, Jenkins was activated from the active/non-football injury list and is expected to stabilize the offensive line — a critical need after reports of frequent center-quarterback exchange issues in his absence.
With Jenkins now at center, Banks at left guard, and Zach Tom—who recently signed a four-year, $88 million extension—solidifying the right tackle position, the Packers still have ongoing competitions at left tackle and right guard. Rookie Jordan Morgan, a 2024 second-round pick, is in contention for one of those starting roles, competing with Rasheed Walker at left tackle and Sean Rhyan at right guard. If Morgan earns a starting job, the loser of that battle will likely become the first backup off the bench.
The depth chart also includes second-round pick Anthony Belton and seventh-round pick John Williams from the 2025 draft, along with 2024 draft picks Jacob Monk and Travis Glover providing additional support.
