“Please Stop Spreading False Information”

St. Louis, MO – As speculation continues to swirl around the future of the St. Louis Cardinals’ managerial position, former catcher and franchise legend Yadier Molina is speaking out—firmly denying the growing rumors that he is set to take over as the team’s next head coach.
In a statement shared with local media on Monday afternoon, Molina made it clear that he has not been in formal talks with the Cardinals about returning in a managerial role.
“I love the Cardinals. They’re my family,” Molina said. “But right now, I’m not pursuing or discussing any position with the team. Please stop spreading false information. I respect the current staff and the work they’re doing. Let them do their job without distraction.”
Molina, who retired after the 2022 season, has been involved in coaching in Puerto Rico and managing in international competitions, which has only fueled speculation about a possible return to MLB in a leadership role. His deep ties to St. Louis, combined with the Cardinals’ recent struggles, have made him a fan favorite choice for the next skipper.
However, Molina emphasized that any assumptions being made are premature and untrue.
“I know there’s a lot of passion in St. Louis, and I appreciate the support. But I’ve made no decisions about managing in MLB at this time. When and if that day comes, it’ll be the right time—not based on rumors.”
The Cardinals organization has not issued a formal comment in response to the speculation. Manager Terry Francona, who took the helm earlier this season, is currently under contract through 2026.
Molina concluded by encouraging fans and media to respect the current team and focus on supporting the players down the stretch.
“This team needs unity right now, not distractions. Let’s rally behind the guys on the field.”
