Yadier Molina Expresses Interest in Coaching Future
September 17, 2025 — Former MLB catcher Yadier Molina has indicated his openness to pursuing a coaching career in the major leagues. While currently serving as the manager for Team Puerto Rico in the 2026 World Baseball Classic, Molina has expressed interest in transitioning to a coaching role in the MLB.
Molina, who retired from professional baseball in 2022 after a distinguished 19-year career with the St. Louis Cardinals, has been involved in various baseball-related activities since his retirement. He rejoined the Cardinals organization as a special assistant to the president of baseball operations in December 2023 and made a guest coaching appearance with the team in August 2025. During his brief return to the dugout, Molina worked with the team’s catchers and expressed his willingness to contribute to the team’s success.
While Molina has not specified a timeline for his potential coaching career in the MLB, his recent involvement with the Cardinals and his leadership role with Team Puerto Rico suggest a growing interest in coaching at the professional level.
