Kentucky Wildcats News: Otega Oweh Injury Update
September 17, 2025
Kentucky guard Otega Oweh has provided an update on the toe injury that sidelined him earlier this summer. Oweh revealed that he suffered turf toe, which kept him out for about four weeks. He is now two weeks into his rehabilitation and is optimistic about returning to the court soon.
The injury was first noticed when Oweh appeared in a walking boot, later confirmed as a minor toe issue sustained during practice. While he is currently limited to light activities in practice, the training staff is being cautious with his recovery.
“I had turf toe. I’ve been out for like four weeks, so now I’m like two weeks in for me to get back onto the court. It was a good rehab process,” Oweh said. When asked if he could play if the season started today, he replied, “Exactly. 100 percent.”
Oweh also consulted the same foot specialist who treated Joe Burrow, though unlike Burrow, his injury does not require surgery. The Wildcats expect him to be fully healthy in time for the start of the season, with no long-term concerns.
This update comes as a relief for Kentucky fans, especially considering the news earlier this week that Bengals quarterback Burrow will miss three months with a similar injury.
