St. Louis Cardinals – September 2, 2025
Although sidelined with a right shoulder strain, St. Louis Cardinals star Nolan Arenado still found himself in the spotlight after the team’s recent victory over the Cincinnati Reds. The Cardinals secured a hard-fought win to close out the series, and Arenado spoke afterward about his pride in the club’s resilience.
“Watching these guys compete, even when I can’t be out there, makes me proud to wear this jersey,” Arenado said. “The energy, the fight, and the way the young players are stepping up shows the heart of this team. A win like today is the kind of spark we need to finish strong.”
Arenado, who has been on the injured list since August 1, traveled back to St. Louis recently for medical evaluations. While he has resumed hitting and is progressing in throwing drills, the team has yet to set a clear return date. Still, his presence in the clubhouse has been a steadying force, especially for the younger players.
Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol praised Arenado’s leadership, saying, “Even when he’s not playing, Nolan has a huge impact on this team. He sets the tone in practice, in meetings, and the guys look up to him. His words after today’s win remind everyone of the standard we want to uphold.”
With the Cardinals looking to build momentum heading into September, Arenado’s statement reinforced the unity within the roster. Fans are hopeful that not only will the third baseman return before season’s end, but that his influence can help push the team toward a stronger finish in the NL Central race.
