Ex-Oiler Dylan Holloway Opens Up on Contract Talks and Why He Left Edmonton..!!
Dylan Holloway, now with the St. Louis Blues, revealed that his contract negotiations with the Edmonton Oilers didn’t sit well with him and influenced his decision to leave the team.
Last offseason, the St. Louis Blues submitted two offer sheets to the Oilers, signing both Holloway and Philip Broberg. The Oilers’ choice not to match these offers surprised many, especially as Holloway has since emerged as a promising young talent.
Speaking on the Cam and Strick Podcast, the Alberta native expressed frustration with how little the Oilers valued him during talks. “It rubbed me the wrong way how little Edmonton thought of me. I’m an Alberta boy, and I wanted to return to a team we’d come so far with, but once Edmonton didn’t share that feeling, I was fully committed to St. Louis,” Holloway said.
Holloway found a better fit with the Blues, who not only gave him a significant role but also the chance to play in the postseason. He responded by delivering a breakout season, scoring 26 goals and accumulating 63 points in 77 games.
Looking back, Holloway’s departure appears to be a major misstep for the Oilers, who must now press on with their current roster in pursuit of the Stanley Cup.
