Three Cherished Gamecocks Set to Soar Beyond South Carolina, Leaving Lasting Legacy
Columbia, SC — In a surprising development for South Carolina Gamecocks fans, three prominent players have announced their departure from the program ahead of the upcoming season. The trio has been instrumental in the team’s recent successes and will be deeply missed on and off the field.
LaNorris Sellers, the dynamic quarterback known for his dual-threat capabilities, confirmed he is leaving the Gamecocks to pursue professional opportunities. Sellers, who led the team with over 3,200 total yards and 25 touchdowns last season, expressed gratitude for his time at South Carolina but feels ready to take the next step in his career.
On the defensive side, Kyle Kennard, the senior defensive end and reigning SEC Defensive Player of the Year, has declared for the NFL Draft. Kennard’s relentless pass-rushing ability and leadership made him a cornerstone of South Carolina’s defense, registering 11.5 sacks and 15.5 tackles for loss in his final season.
From the basketball squad, Collin Murray-Boyles, the standout forward who led the SEC in field goal percentage, has decided to transfer to another program to pursue new opportunities. Murray-Boyles averaged 15.7 points and 9.6 rebounds per game and was a key figure in the Gamecocks’ recent successes on the court.
Head coach commented on the departures: “We’re incredibly proud of LaNorris, Kyle, and Collin. Each has contributed tremendously to our program’s growth, and while we will miss their talents and leadership, we support their decisions and wish them the very best moving forward.”
The Gamecocks now face the challenge of filling the void left by these impactful players as they prepare for the new season.
