Yadier Molina Returning to Cardinals Dugout for Giants Series
The St. Louis Cardinals will welcome a familiar face back this weekend. Team legend Yadier Molina is set to rejoin the club as a guest coach during their three-game home series against the San Francisco Giants, beginning Friday.
The Athletic’s Katie Woo reported that Molina will be in the dugout for all three games, just as he was earlier in August when the Cardinals played the Chicago Cubs.
Molina, a future Hall of Famer, has openly expressed his interest in managing at the major league level. His return has fueled speculation about his long-term future with the organization, particularly with current manager Oliver Marmol in place.
Marmol, meanwhile, has overseen two trade-deadline sell-offs and still has the team positioned to potentially finish above .500 for the second straight season. Despite outside noise, he continues to approach the job with perspective and faith.
“I don’t worry about what’s next,” Marmol said earlier this year when asked about Molina’s involvement. “If I’m meant to be here, I will be. I focus on supporting my staff and players, and we take it one day at a time.”
The timing of Molina’s return is notable with Chaim Bloom set to take over as president of baseball operations after the season. While questions about the team’s leadership remain, Molina’s presence adds excitement for fans as the Cardinals prepare for a pivotal weekend series
