Yankees’ Aaron Judge Ties Yogi Berra on All-Time Home Run List
Aaron Judge made franchise history during the New York Yankees’ series finale against the Chicago White Sox on Sunday night.
In the first inning, Judge crushed a solo home run to center field, traveling 426 feet and giving the Yankees an early lead. With that blast, Judge tied the legendary Yogi Berra for fifth place on the Yankees’ all-time home run list, with 358 career homers.
After the game, Judge reflected on the milestone and paid tribute to Berra’s legacy:
“When you get a chance to tie one of the greatest, if not the greatest, Yankees in homers, it’s pretty special. The way Yogi played the game, what he meant to the pinstripes, you know how much it meant being a New York Yankee to him. I feel the same way. I’m honored to wear this jersey. It’s pretty cool to be on that list with him.”
Despite Judge’s historic moment, the Yankees fell short, losing 3–2 to the White Sox. New York led 2–1 after five innings, but Chicago responded with home runs in the sixth and eighth to secure the win.
Luis Gil started for the Yankees, pitching 5.1 innings with seven strikeouts while allowing four hits and two runs. Reliever Tim Hill took the loss, dropping to 4–4 on the season. The Yankees’ bullpen limited damage overall, but two key homers proved costly.
The defeat pushed the Yankees to a 76–61 record, keeping them second in the AL East, three games behind the division-leading Toronto Blue Jays. Next, the Yankees will remain on the road to face the Houston Astros, with Game 1 scheduled for September 2 at 8:10 p.m. ET.
