Texas rangers news
Texas Rangers president of baseball operations Chris Young has provided a crucial update on shortstop Corey Seager’s recovery following his recent appendectomy. While the team has yet to set a definitive timetable for his return, Young stressed that a late-season comeback remains a possibility.
Speaking to reporters on Monday, Young acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding Seager’s rehabilitation process but made clear that the organization is not ruling him out. “We don’t have a set date for Corey’s return, but there’s optimism that he could make it back before the season ends,” Young said. “It will depend entirely on how his body responds in the coming weeks.”
Seager, who underwent surgery on August 28, was placed on the 10-day injured list. His absence is the latest blow to a Rangers roster already stretched thin by a mounting injury list that includes Marcus Semien, Nathan Eovaldi, and Evan Carter.
Despite the setbacks, Seager’s potential late-season availability could provide a significant boost for a team clinging to its postseason hopes. Before the injury, the All-Star shortstop was slashing .271 with 21 home runs and 50 RBIs, serving as one of the Rangers’ most consistent offensive weapons.
In the meantime, the club has turned to Josh Smith and Ezequiel Durán to handle shortstop duties, while veteran Dylan Moore has also been added to the roster to help fill the void.
For fans, Young’s cautious optimism offers a glimmer of hope. With the Rangers fighting to stay alive in the playoff race, even the chance of Seager’s return could inject new energy into a clubhouse desperate for reinforcements.
