PHILADELPHIA — Phillies superstar Bryce Harper has never been shy about sharing how much his family means to him, both on and off the field. This week, the two-time National League MVP opened up about a recent conversation with his wife, Kayla Harper, that left a lasting impression — and showed just how deeply the Harper family has embraced Philadelphia.
Speaking with reporters ahead of the Phillies’ offseason workouts, Harper revealed that Kayla encouraged him to continue building his career — and their family’s life — right here in Philadelphia.
“Kayla told me, ‘This is home. Philly’s a great team with a great future — and we want to be part of that,’” Harper said with a smile. “She loves this community just as much as I do. It means a lot to know she sees what I see — that this team and this city have something special.”
Since signing his record-breaking 13-year, $330 million deal in 2019, Harper has become not only the face of the franchise but also a fixture in the city’s culture. Known for his fiery passion and clutch postseason performances, he’s helped lead the Phillies back to championship contention while becoming a symbol of loyalty to the fan base.
Harper said his wife’s words reaffirmed his sense of belonging in Philadelphia.
“When your wife tells you that you’re right where you’re supposed to be, that hits home,” he continued. “We’ve built a life here, our kids love it, and we’re proud to call Philly our home.”
Kayla Harper, who has often been seen cheering from the stands with their children, has played a major role in keeping Bryce grounded throughout the highs and lows of a demanding baseball career. The couple, married since 2016, share three children and have spoken in the past about their desire to raise their family in a supportive, tight-knit community.
For Harper, that community is now unmistakably Philadelphia.
“We’ve always believed in what this team is building,” he said. “And hearing that from her — that she believes in it too — it just makes me want to give even more.”
With his future secured in red pinstripes, Harper’s focus remains clear: bringing another championship to Philadelphia, for both his team and the city his family now proudly calls home.
