St. Louis Cardinals news
Good news for St. Louis Cardinals fans: Nolan Arenado is nearing his return to the field. The veteran third baseman revealed he plans to begin a rehab assignment next week, likely in Springfield. If his recovery stays on track, he could rejoin the Cardinals during their upcoming homestand against the Cincinnati Reds.
While working his way back, Arenado has spent time around younger players in the organization — and one name in particular stood out: Rainiel Rodriguez.
Rodriguez Making His Mark
Rodriguez was recently promoted to High-A Peoria, where he immediately impressed by collecting three hits in his debut. Over 356 plate appearances, he has posted a strong .280/.407/.567 slash line, with 21 doubles and 20 home runs. His consistent power and ability to get on base have quickly made him one of the Cardinals’ most intriguing prospects.
Baseball America has already labeled Rodriguez one of the best hitters at his age, and Arenado added his own praise. “Hitting balls oppo at 109? That’s a good-looking player,” he said via reporter Jeff Jones.
In just 221 at-bats at Single-A, Rodriguez recorded 13 home runs and an .877 OPS — numbers that justified his promotion and highlight his rapid rise in the system.
Double Boost for the Cardinals
With Arenado on the verge of returning and Rodriguez establishing himself as a name to watch, Cardinals fans have reason for optimism. Arenado’s presence will immediately strengthen the big-league lineup, while Rodriguez represents a bright future within the organization’s rebuild.
