BREAKING NEWS: Detroit lions star man is finally back……

Detroit Lions Injury Updates: Terrion Arnold Nearing Return; Encouraging Signs for Decker, Skipper, and Yeboah

August 3, 2025 – Allen Park

The Detroit Lions are navigating several key injuries early in training camp, but the outlook remains largely positive as they prepare for the upcoming NFL season. Head coach Dan Campbell provided multiple updates on players recovering from injuries, including cornerback Terrion Arnold, offensive linemen Dan Skipper and Taylor Decker, and tight end Kenny Yeboah.

Terrion Arnold (CB) — Hamstring/Calf

Second-year cornerback Terrion Arnold is dealing with a low-grade hamstring injury, which has kept him out for about a week. Prior to that, he briefly left practice with a calf issue. As a highly-touted former first-round pick expected to play a significant role in Detroit’s secondary this season, the Lions are treating his recovery with extra caution.

Campbell expressed confidence in Arnold’s progress, indicating he could return to the field by midweek.

“It’s not a major hamstring,” Campbell said. “We’re just being smart with it… hoping to get him back by Wednesday or Thursday.”

Arnold’s return will be closely watched, as the Lions are counting on him to help solidify a pass defense that showed improvement last season but still needs consistency on the perimeter.

Dan Skipper (OL) — Ankle

Veteran offensive lineman Dan Skipper suffered an ankle injury in the Lions’ preseason opener against the Chargers. The injury occurred during a second-quarter running play involving Craig Reynolds. Skipper was later seen exiting the locker room in a walking boot.

Campbell expects him to miss about a week, with no long-term concern.

“He got his ankle a little bit… he’ll probably be down for about a week,” Campbell said. “We’re not too worried.”

Skipper’s absence could create more reps for younger linemen hoping to secure a backup or rotational role along the offensive front.

Taylor Decker (LT) — Shoulder Surgery Recovery

Starting left tackle Taylor Decker, the longest-tenured player on the roster, continues to make progress in his return from offseason shoulder surgery. Decker underwent a cleanup procedure earlier this year, and the team had initially targeted the week after the Hall of Fame Game for his return to action.

While he’s not yet cleared for full-contact, he has been taken off the physically unable to perform (PUP) list and is participating in individual and group drills.

“He’ll be out there (Sunday), just not doing any team drills yet,” Campbell said. “But it’s good to see him moving around again.”

Decker’s presence is critical for Jared Goff’s blindside protection and overall offensive line continuity, particularly with the team aiming to build on last season’s playoff run.

Kenny Yeboah (TE) — Leg Injury

Tight end Kenny Yeboah also received a scare during the Hall of Fame Game when he was rolled up on during a play. Initial reactions suggested it might be serious, but further evaluation ruled out any major injury. Yeboah sat out Sunday’s practice due to personal reasons, not medical ones, and is expected to rejoin the team this week.

“It looked bad at first,” Campbell said, “but we got lucky. He’ll be back this week.”

Yeboah is battling for a depth spot behind established starters like Sam LaPorta, and any missed time could affect his chances of making the final roster.

Big Picture

While none of the reported injuries are season-threatening, the Lions are taking a cautious but optimistic approach. With a playoff-caliber roster and heightened expectations entering the 2025 season, Detroit is focused on keeping key contributors healthy through camp.

The team’s medical staff and coaching staff appear aligned in managing workloads to ensure players are ready for Week 1 without compromising long-term health. These early updates reflect a team that’s being smart, measured, and forward-thinking as it builds toward a competitive season.
