Cam Fowler, Add Pius Suter in Offseason Moves
The St. Louis Blues have made two significant roster moves that highlight their intent to remain competitive heading into the 2025–26 NHL season.
Fowler Commits Long-Term
Defenseman Cam Fowler, who joined the Blues last season, signed a three-year extension worth $18.3 million, securing his place on the blue line through the 2028–29 season. Fowler, 33, brought steady veteran presence to the Blues’ defensive corps after his arrival and quickly became a trusted piece in head coach Jim Montgomery’s system.
“Cam has been a stabilizing force for us,” Blues general manager Doug Armstrong said in a team statement. “He plays heavy minutes, contributes in all situations, and provides leadership that our younger defensemen can lean on. We’re thrilled he chose to commit to St. Louis long-term.”
Pius Suter Joins the Forward Group
In another key signing, the Blues secured forward Pius Suter on a two-year, $4.125 million contract. The 29-year-old Swiss center is coming off a strong campaign in Vancouver, where he posted career-best offensive numbers while showcasing his versatility as a two-way forward.
Known for his ability to play both center and wing, Suter adds depth to a forward group in transition after veteran departures earlier this year. “Pius is a player who can move up and down the lineup and contribute in multiple roles,” Montgomery said. “He’s going to be a valuable asset, especially with his experience and work ethic.”
A Roster in Transition
The signings of Fowler and Suter come as the Blues prepare for a new chapter. With Ryan Suter and Radek Faksa no longer in the mix, and younger players pushing for ice time, the team is balancing veteran leadership with fresh energy.
The moves also underscore ownership and management’s confidence that the Blues can return to the postseason after missing out in recent years. “These are the kinds of steady, experienced players who can help us stay competitive while we continue to build toward the future,” Armstrong added.
The Blues will open their 2025–26 regular season on October 9 at Enterprise Center, facing off against the Minnesota Wild in what promises to be a highly anticipated matchup.
