St. Louis Blues head coach Jim Montgomery has addressed speculation about star forward Jordan Kyrou’s future, reaffirming his commitment to the 27-year-old winger as a key part of the team’s long-term vision.
Rumors earlier this summer hinted that other clubs had shown interest in acquiring Kyrou, but Montgomery was quick to shut down any doubts about his role in St. Louis.
“Jordan is one of the most dynamic players in this league. His speed, skill, and ability to create offense are things you can’t just replace,” Montgomery said. “We believe in him, and we’re building a system that allows him to keep growing. He’s a cornerstone for us.”
Kyrou, who is under contract through 2031, has become one of the Blues’ central figures alongside Robert Thomas. While his offensive flair has drawn praise, the forward has also faced criticism regarding consistency and defensive play. Montgomery acknowledged those challenges but stressed that development, not departure, is the focus.
“Every great player has areas to improve. Jordan has embraced that. He’s quicker, stronger, and more determined than ever heading into this season,” Montgomery added. “We’re confident he’s going to be a big part of where this team is headed.”
The Blues are navigating a transitional phase, balancing the integration of younger talent with the need to remain competitive in the Central Division. Montgomery’s comments signal that, despite outside speculation, Kyrou remains firmly in the Blues’ long-term plans.
