The St. Louis Blues have a rich history filled with iconic players, though many of the franchise’s biggest records may never be broken. Bernie Federko’s career points mark and Brett Hull’s 527 goals are likely untouchable. Still, becoming a Blues legend isn’t only about setting records—it’s about joining the ranks of the greats. For instance, Vladimir Tarasenko sits fifth in franchise history in both goals and points, cementing his legacy as a club icon.
Now, a new name could soon join that conversation: Jimmy Snuggerud. Known for his elite goal-scoring ability, Snuggerud has the potential to challenge Tarasenko’s totals, and possibly exceed them, once he becomes a full-time NHL player next season.
Tarasenko scored 262 goals in 644 games with the Blues, beginning his career at age 21 with eight goals in 38 games. Snuggerud is entering his first full season with the team at the same age, but he already has a head start, tallying one goal in seven games last year. With a full season ahead in his Calder-eligible campaign, he will have every chance to set the pace for a remarkable career.
The road to matching or surpassing Tarasenko’s numbers will be long, but the early signs point to Snuggerud being a special talent. If he lives up to his potential, he could carve out a place among the Blues’ all-time great scorers.
For Blues fans, the excitement lies in watching the beginning of what could be the rise of another franchise legend.
