New York Yankees news
The New York Yankees are treading carefully with star outfielder Aaron Judge as the team continues its postseason push. Manager Aaron Boone confirmed that while Judge has returned to the field after his right elbow strain, he is “not 100 percent” and will be managed closely in the coming weeks.
Judge made his long-awaited return to right field on September 5 after spending nearly two months limited to designated hitter duties. While his bat remains as powerful as ever, Boone admitted Judge is still regaining full throwing strength and defensive sharpness, which has been evident in his cautious movements and reduced arm velocity.
“Offensively, he’s been tremendous for us, but in the field, he’s still building back,” Boone said. “We want to be smart. It’s about making sure he’s available and effective when we need him most.”
Judge’s status looms large for the Yankees, who are relying on his presence to carry the lineup into October. Despite missing time, the 32-year-old has put together another MVP-caliber season, leading the American League in walks, runs scored, and continuing to chase historic home run marks.
However, with Juan Soto sidelined and the roster under pressure, Judge’s health is the central storyline heading into the playoffs. The Yankees will continue to rotate him between designated hitter and limited outfield appearances, hoping he can be at peak form when the postseason begins.
