The Texas Rangers’ push for the postseason has become even more difficult after news that Adolis García is heading back to the injured list. The team, already dealing with the season-ending loss of Nathan Eovaldi, must now prepare for the stretch run without another one of its stars.
García has battled inconsistency this season, and despite manager Bruce Bochy’s efforts to keep him engaged, injuries have repeatedly disrupted his rhythm. His latest setback could keep him out for the remainder of the year. To add to the concern, Jon Gray has been placed on the 60-day injured list, officially ending his season.
Throughout 2025, Texas has struggled to stay healthy. Corey Seager, Marcus Semien, and García have all missed significant time, leaving the offense short-handed. With García sidelined again, the Rangers must now rely heavily on others to carry the load, particularly Jacob deGrom, who faces mounting pressure to steady the pitching staff.
According to MLB.com’s Kennedi Landry, Gray’s IL designation marks the conclusion of his season, while outfielder Dustin Harris has been called up from Round Rock to help fill the roster gap.
The Rangers currently trail by a game and a half in the American League Wild Card race. While they remain mathematically alive, their chances appear slimmer compared to the healthier Seattle Mariners, who occupy the final playoff spot.
If García is unable to return, this setback could prove to be a defining blow for Bochy’s final season as manager, potentially leaving the defending champions on the outside looking in.
