Jimmy Snuggerud: Next Great Goal Scorer
As August winds down and the focus shifts to NHL drafts and prospects, it’s worth spotlighting one of the St. Louis Blues’ most exciting young talents—Jimmy Snuggerud. Though still technically labeled a prospect, Snuggerud is already showing signs of elite potential.
He stepped into the lineup during the playoffs to replace the injured Dylan Holloway and immediately proved he could keep up with the NHL pace. Now the question is: could Snuggerud become the Blues’ most natural goal scorer since their 2010 first-round pick, Vladimir Tarasenko?
Drawing Comparisons to Tarasenko
Tarasenko, drafted 16th overall in 2010, became a cornerstone for the Blues during his 11-season tenure. He tallied 262 goals—fifth-most in franchise history—and played a key role in the team’s 2019 Stanley Cup victory. His time with the team ended at the 2023 trade deadline, when he was dealt to the New York Rangers.
While it’s early, Snuggerud’s offensive instincts and goal-scoring ability have drawn comparisons to Tarasenko. When the regular season begins in October, fans will get a clearer picture of just how close that comparison might be.
A Promising Right Wing Duo
Snuggerud isn’t the only offensive threat on the right side. Jordan Kyrou, now 27, is climbing the franchise goal-scoring ranks himself and is within striking distance of the top 10. Together, Kyrou and Snuggerud could form a formidable 1-2 punch on the wing for seasons to come.
If both continue their upward trajectories, it’s possible that Tarasenko’s mark on the Blues record books could eventually be surpassed.
