Lions center Graham Glasgow escaped a serious injury per coach Dan Campbell.
Following the Detroit Lions’ final training camp practice against the Houston Texans, head coach Dan Campbell shared encouraging injury updates on two key players: center Graham Glasgow and running back Sione Vaki.
Campbell stated that Glasgow “should be good,” indicating that the starting center avoided a serious injury and is expected to be ready for the season opener in two weeks. This comes as a relief, given that Detroit lacks an experienced backup at the position. Kingsley Eguakun is considered the likely second option but has no NFL game experience.
As for Vaki, Campbell noted his situation might take slightly longer to resolve but emphasized it’s “not a major thing.” Vaki has made a strong case for a roster spot thanks to his versatility on special teams, especially as a kick returner alongside linebacker Grant Stuard. In Vaki’s absence, Jacob Saylors filled in during the preseason finale. However, Saylors remains a longshot to make the team, which may open the door for someone like Craig Reynolds to step in if Vaki isn’t ready by Week 1.
On a less positive note, Campbell mentioned that reserve linebacker Ezekiel Turner’s injury, also sustained in the preseason finale, appears to be serious and is undergoing further evaluation.
