The Philadelphia Eagles are parting ways with senior director of college scouting Anthony Patch, who is joining the Las Vegas Raiders as a senior personnel executive, per the team’s official announcement.
Patch began his Eagles tenure in 2002 as a college scouting coordinator and climbed the ranks to become director of college scouting in 2012. Though briefly dismissed during Chip Kelly’s short-lived control of the personnel department in 2015, Patch was reinstated in 2016 under Howie Roseman’s leadership. Interestingly, Kelly is now the offensive coordinator for the Raiders.
New Raiders GM John Spytek, who overlapped with Patch in Philadelphia from 2005 to 2009, likely played a role in the hire. Patch is presumably receiving a raise and increased influence in his new role.
While losing a long-time scouting leader is far from ideal, it’s a familiar situation for the Eagles, whose front office has frequently been targeted by other teams following their recent Super Bowl success. Maintaining talent depth remains a key task for Roseman, who’s largely succeeded in doing so.
Expect official updates from the Eagles on front office restructuring in the coming weeks, as they did in early June last year.
