Yadier Molina Makes Bold Statement on Coaching Career: “I Love the Cardinals — This Is Home”
| November 9, 2025
Former St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina has made his intentions clear about his next chapter in baseball. The legendary backstop, who spent his entire 19-season Major League career with the Cardinals, expressed his desire to join the team’s coaching staff — a move that could bring one of the franchise’s most respected figures back to Busch Stadium in a new role.
In a recent interview, Molina said he feels “ready to coach” and emphasized that St. Louis will always be home.
“I love the Cardinals — this is my family, this is home,” Molina said. “I’ve spent my whole career here, and now that I’m ready to coach, I’d love to be part of the staff and help the next generation win.”
Since retiring after the 2022 season, Molina has stayed active in baseball, managing teams in Puerto Rico’s professional league and representing Puerto Rico in international tournaments. His leadership and baseball IQ have drawn praise from players and coaches alike, fueling speculation about a potential coaching role in MLB.
The Cardinals, who have faced several challenges in recent seasons, could benefit from Molina’s defensive expertise, game management skills, and deep connection with the clubhouse. Fans have long hoped for his return in a leadership capacity, and his recent comments have only strengthened those expectations.

While the organization has not officially announced any coaching changes, sources close to the team suggest that Molina’s potential addition to the staff is being seriously considered.
If it happens, the move would mark a fitting continuation of Molina’s lifelong bond with the Cardinals — from star player to mentor and leader in the dugout.
“I’m ready,” Molina added. “I want to give back to the team and city that gave me everything.”
