BREAKING NEWS: Veteran Slugger Kyle Schwarber Releases Good News for Philadelphia Phillies.

Will the Phillies Keep Kyle Schwarber? Insider Shares Latest Update

The Philadelphia Phillies are working to keep star slugger Kyle Schwarber as he enters free agency. Schwarber, 32, has spent the last four seasons with the team after signing a four-year, $79 million contract. Following a huge 2025 campaign—56 home runs and 132 RBIs—he is expected to command a significantly larger deal. Spotrac estimates his current value at close to $100 million over four years.

MLB.com reporter Todd Zolecki recently provided insight into the situation, noting that the Phillies have made re-signing Schwarber and catcher J.T. Realmuto a top priority. According to Zolecki, there is a strong belief within the organization that Schwarber will ultimately stay in Philadelphia.

Zolecki added that the two sides are not close to an agreement yet, which is typical early in the offseason. Schwarber’s representatives are expected to push for a deal that reflects his MVP-caliber performance—he finished second in the National League MVP race behind Shohei Ohtani.

Negotiations, however, may take time. Zolecki compared the situation to J.T. Realmuto’s free agency in 2020–21, when prolonged talks and high early demands created uncertainty before a deal eventually came together.

Given Schwarber’s outstanding 2025 season and importance to the Phillies’ lineup, losing him would be a major blow. For now, though, the outlook remains positive that he will return to Philadelphia.
