Rangers Facing Major Roster Turnover with 12 Free Agents
By Billy Heyen — November 3, 2025
The Texas Rangers’ 2025 season didn’t go as planned, and their roster could look quite different in 2026.
After the Dodgers defeated the Blue Jays in Game 7 of the World Series, the offseason officially began. On Sunday, the MLB Players Association released its list of players entering free agency, and no team had more than the Rangers — twelve in total.
Rangers players hitting free agency:
- Shawn Armstrong
- Patrick Corbin
- Daniel Coulombe
- Jonathan Gray
- Merrill Kelly
- Tyler Mahle
- Christopher Martin
- Phil Maton
- Hoby Milner
- Dylan Moore
- Donovan Solano
- Rowdy Tellez
Despite the number of departures, few of these players are considered essential to re-sign. While several are starting pitchers, most didn’t contribute significantly last season. The bullpen options are steadier, but none are viewed as irreplaceable.
Position players like Solano, Tellez, and Moore can still offer value in part-time or platoon roles, though overall, it’s an uninspiring free-agent group.
The Rangers will face several roster holes heading into 2026, but the biggest changes are likely to come around the edges rather than the core of the team. Success may depend on how well the front office identifies affordable, effective replacements in the coming months.
