2025 Texas Rangers Players Entering Free Agency
With the 2025 regular season complete, the Texas Rangers are already looking ahead to 2026. Once the World Series ends, several players will officially come off the roster and payroll. Most of them are pitchers, meaning the front office will need to decide how to fill those key spots moving forward.
Below is a list of every Rangers player set to hit free agency this offseason.
Shawn Armstrong, RHP
Appearing in 71 games out of the bullpen, the 35-year-old right-hander posted a 2.31 ERA and tied for the team lead with nine saves. He joined Texas on a one-year, $1.2 million deal before the 2025 season.
Patrick Corbin, LHP
Signed just before Opening Day, Corbin became a steady part of the rotation. Over 30 starts, he went 7–11 with a 4.40 ERA, 131 strikeouts, and a 1.36 WHIP in 155 1/3 innings.
Danny Coulombe, LHP
Acquired at the trade deadline, Coulombe battled shoulder fatigue late in the year. He made 15 appearances and threw 12 innings, finishing with a 5.25 ERA and 1.67 WHIP.
Merrill Kelly, RHP
The Rangers made a surprise move for the 35-year-old veteran at the deadline, trading several pitching prospects. Kelly went 3–3 with a 4.02 ERA, 46 strikeouts, and a 1.25 WHIP over 15 games.
Tyler Mahle, RHP
Signed in 2024 while recovering from Tommy John surgery, Mahle returned strong, starting 19 games and recording a 6–5 record with a 2.54 ERA and 76 strikeouts in nearly 100 innings. Texas will likely aim to bring him back.
Phil Maton, RHP
Another deadline pickup, Maton found his rhythm late in the season and became a reliable reliever. In 23 innings, he earned three saves and finished with a 0.96 WHIP.
Billy McKinney, OF
The Plano native appeared in six games, going 4-for-20 (.200) with four runs scored. He joined the roster at the end of the season after Wyatt Langford’s injury.
Hoby Milner, LHP
The sidearming lefty was a steady presence in the bullpen, pitching in 73 games with a 3.84 ERA, 58 strikeouts, and 18 holds over 70 1/3 innings.
Dylan Moore, INF/OF
Claimed off waivers from Seattle in August, Moore played 18 games for Texas, hitting .259 with two home runs, six RBIs, and a .781 OPS. His versatility could make him a candidate to return.
Donovan Solano, INF
Signed late in the season for bench depth, Solano appeared in just two games during the Cleveland series.
Rowdy Tellez, 1B/DH
Tellez came through in several clutch moments late in the season, hitting six home runs and driving in 22 runs in 50 games. He also hit the Rangers’ final home run of the year in Cleveland.
Summary
Texas faces several key free-agent decisions, particularly on the pitching staff. Retaining dependable arms like Mahle or Milner could be a priority as the team reshapes its roster for 2026.
