Otega Oweh Responds to Louisville Cardinals’ Pregame Talk: “I See It All”
LEXINGTON, Ky. — As the Kentucky Wildcats prepare for their highly anticipated rivalry game against the Louisville Cardinals, returning starter Otega Oweh has made it clear that he’s paying attention to everything being said ahead of tipoff.
Oweh, the only returning starter from head coach Mark Pope’s first season, knows the intensity of this matchup well. Last year, he scored 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting in Kentucky’s eight-point victory over Louisville, helping the Wildcats improve to 10–1 at that point in the season.
Now taking on a larger offensive role, Oweh remains focused but motivated by the Cardinals’ recent pregame chatter, particularly comments from Kasean Pryor that have circulated online.
“I see it all,” Oweh said, acknowledging the talk while maintaining his composure before Tuesday night’s ESPN-televised game.
Oweh, who started all 36 games last season, is off to a strong start this year, shooting 52.6% from the field. His efficiency and aggressiveness are expected to drive Kentucky’s offense once again.
The Wildcats have dominated this rivalry in recent years, but with Louisville eager to make a statement, tensions are high. Despite being labeled as underdogs, Kentucky — currently ranked No. 1 in the KenPom ratings — is expected to bring intensity and discipline into one of college basketball’s fiercest showdowns.
