BREAKING NEWS: Cincinnati Reds Announce The Signing of Top MLB Star With Great Experience.

Reds re-sign right-hander with 117 MLB innings of experience

The Cincinnati Reds have brought back a familiar arm just a week after parting ways with him.

The team announced that they have re-signed right-handed pitcher Carson Spiers. He is recovering from elbow surgery he underwent in July, and at best is expected to return around the middle of the upcoming season.

Spiers had been non-tendered by the Reds ahead of MLB’s Friday deadline, but he now returns on a minor league deal with an invitation to Major League camp.

The 28-year-old has appeared in the big leagues in each of the last three seasons, posting a career ERA of 5.69 across 117 innings. His minor-league numbers are slightly better, with a 4.08 ERA.

He relies on a 92 mph fastball, making it important that he retains his velocity following the elbow procedure.

The Reds clearly see potential value in keeping him within the organization, and Spiers appears comfortable continuing his rehab with Cincinnati. Once healthy, he will likely need to re-establish himself at Triple-A before receiving another MLB opportunity.
