BREAKING NEWS: Yadier Molina Makes Big Announcement on His Coaching Career.

Yadier Molina Announces Plans to Begin Coaching Career

St. Louis Cardinals legend Yadier Molina has revealed that he plans to return to professional baseball — this time as a coach.

Molina, who retired three years ago after a 19-year career spent entirely with the Cardinals, left behind an extraordinary legacy. His accomplishments include 10 All-Star selections, nine Gold Gloves, four Platinum Gloves, and two World Series titles.

Now, he’s preparing for the next chapter of his baseball life.

Molina’s Next Step: Coaching

On Thursday, Molina announced on Instagram that he intends to begin a professional coaching career. He wrote that after several years away from the game, he feels ready to return to the field — whether as a coach or manager — in Major League Baseball, Mexico, or elsewhere.

Molina has already gained some experience on the bench. He managed Team Puerto Rico during the 2023 World Baseball Classic and served as a guest coach for the Cardinals twice during the 2025 season.

Given his leadership, knowledge of the game, and deep ties to St. Louis, the move seems like a natural progression.

Could a Return to St. Louis Be Next?

Reports from El Vocero, a Puerto Rican outlet, suggest that Molina has been in contact with Cardinals manager Oli Marmol about a possible assistant coaching position. Molina reportedly said that while nothing is official, discussions are ongoing.

A reunion between Molina and the Cardinals would make sense given his long history with the organization, though it could present challenges. Marmol would need to balance his authority with Molina’s immense popularity among fans — some of whom might call for the former catcher to take on a larger role.

For now, Molina’s future remains undecided, but it appears that his days in baseball are far from over.
