During his four seasons as head coach of Boston College, which began with the 2020 pandemic season and ended in 2023, the team achieved bowl eligibility three times under Hafley’s leadership (although they only played in one bowl game).
After working as the co-defensive coordinator for an Ohio State squad that qualified for the CFP in 2019, Hafley came to BC with high expectations. Under former head coach Steve Addazio, BC football was mediocre at best, making bowls often but never winning more than seven games in a season. Although Hafley was supposed to take the program to new heights, he mostly kept it at the same level. His teams never won more than six games during the regular season, and in 2022, they finished the season with a 3-9 record.
With a Fenway Bowl victory in 2023, they improved to 7-6, but that performance was against the Power 5’s easiest schedule.
Jeff Hafley finished his time at Boston College with a 22-26 overall record and a 12-22 record in the ACC.
