The St. Louis Battlehawks had a great start to the season when they selected 12 players in the first round of the Dispersal Draft earlier in the month. Bringing in players like defensive back Qwynnterrio Cole and wide receivers Blake Jackson and Jahcour Pearson will help lay the groundwork for the club in 2024.
The Battlehawks’ offensive and defensive lines seemed to be the main priorities of the Super Dispersal Draft. During the draft, two defensive backs and three offensive lineman were selected.
The eight picks made by St. Louis in the Super Dispersal Draft are broken down here.
S The aggressive safety of the New Jersey Generals, Dravon Askew-Henry In the opening round, Dravon Askew-Henry joins the Battlehawks. Over the previous two seasons, Askew-Henry totaled 71 tackles and two interceptions for the Generals. In 2020, he started as a safety for the New York Guardians of the XFL and recorded 12 tackles in five games.
Impact on the roster: The Battlehawks have made improving from the previous season a top priority. Playing with aggression, Askew-Henry should benefit St. Louis. Week 1 might see him in their starting lineup.
OLB Chris Garrett
Chris Garrett, an outside linebacker, signed with the Houston Gamblers during the end of the 2023 campaign. He made two tackles in two games. From 2021 to 2023, Garrett played in the NFL for the Los Angeles Rams, Minnesota Vikings, and Seattle Seahawks. The Rams, who selected him in the seventh round of the 2021 NFL Draft, helped him win a Super Bowl.
Impact on the roster: Garrett established the Division II record for forced fumbles in a career with 15, demonstrating his talent at forcing mistakes throughout his time in college at the Division II level. Given the depth of the linebacking core, which includes Carson Wells, Mike Rose, and Pita Taumoepenu, Garrett will probably have to fight for a spot on the roster through special teams.
