Yoshida underwent a procedure to resolve temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ) in his jaw last fall
According to that report, Yoshida said his jaw would often tremble and sometimes come out of place and that he had constant headaches, especially after traveling. At JetBlue Park on Sunday, he confirmed the issue has been resolved.
“You use your jaw to chew and to eat so it was kind of constant with me,” Yoshida said through interpreter Yutaro Yamaguchi.

Yoshida said the issue did not impact him during every game last season, adding that he thinks he can benefit on the field from having it resolved.
The Red Sox are hoping Yoshida’s offseason will put him in position to have a more consistent full season in 2024. Overall, he performed well at the plate as a rookie, hitting .289 with 15 homers, 72 RBIs and a .783 OPS in 140 games. His first half, however, was much better than his second half. Before the All-Star break, the 30-year-old Yoshida hit .316 with an .874 OPS. He seemed to wear down after the All-Star break, hitting .254 with a .663 OPS.
