Celtic’s Marco Tilio has suffered a hamstring tendon injury while on loan at his former club Melbourne City and is now expected to miss up to six weeks of football.
The Olyroos’ West Asian Football Federation (WAFF) U23 Championship later this month would be affected by Tilio’s absence for at least four weeks. A doubt for April’s U23 Asian Cup, which doubles as Olympic qualifying, is the Celtic loanee.
According to Australian publication thewest.com.au, coach Aurelio VIdmar stated, “Last week it was soreness and then when he came back into training, when we were pushing a little bit, he kept feeling something in his hamstring.”
We had him rescanned, and the results showed that he has a mild hamstring tendon problem. Yes, he will be gone for a little while. We’re not sure at this point; it might take up to six weeks.
He’s feeling better now, and while I believe the symptoms will go away pretty soon, it remains to be seen how explosive he can become in a short amount of time. I’m not an expert, but it’s not that simple. I would estimate that it will be at least four weeks, but we will have to wait and see.
Tilio, who struggled at Celtic and returned to Melbourne City on loan, is finding it difficult to adjust to life at his old club. It’s clear that he is frustrated and disappointed. Although this has been a difficult year, these kinds of things do, regrettably, occasionally occur in the workplace.
“At the age of 22, he still has a long way to go in his professional life. He has more than ten years left, and sadly, there will be rough patches. He’s clearly disappointed, but he’s very brash, and all he can do is get well and return to himself as soon as possible. In any case, the schedule is quite condensed—we only have eight games, which is not a huge amount of time.
Yesterday, Tilio’s teammate Liel Abada signed a contract to join MLS team Charlotte FC, after leaving Celtic with a £10 million transfer price.
