Fans of the Atlanta Braves can breathe a sigh of relief today when they learn something new about their great outfield player. Concern was expressed by Atlanta supporters when it was revealed that Ronald Acuña Jr. was experiencing discomfort in the same knee that he had injured in 2021.
In an attempt to be cautious, the Braves kept Acuña out of the starting lineup and sent him to Los Angeles to see the same physician who had treated his knee a second time. Although that worried some fans, it makes natural that Atlanta would want him to consult the same physician.
After seeing OF Ronald Acuña Jr. last night in Los Angeles, Dr. Neal ElAttrache confirmed that Acuña Jr.’s right knee meniscus was irritated. Acuña Jr. will progressively ramp up his baseball activities and should be prepared for Opening Day.
Acuña’s right knee meniscus appears to be irritated, according to Dr. Neal ElAttrache. The day before the irritation was discovered, Acuña did get caught in a run-down, thus it could be the source of the inflammation.
The good news for the Braves is that there is no damage that needs to be fixed; Acuña just needs to take it slow for a while. He’ll ramp up his baseball activities bit by bit over the month of March, and Opening Day should come soon.
This spring, he had only participated in a few games and had performed as anticipated.

The Atlanta Braves would have suffered a great loss had they lost him. A player of his calibre is difficult to replace, so it would have been unfortunate to have him around. Fortunately, fans don’t have to worry about that just yet and can still watch Acuña compete for yet another MVP-caliber season.
Ronald is aware of how crucial his health is to his career, and I have no doubt that he will take advise to heart so he can return to the field and make a positive impact. It was only a day or two before the injury was made public that he discussed that very subject with MLB Network.
At this point, Acuña is a seasoned player, so he shouldn’t have any trouble picking things up and catching up. Hopefully, this annoyance doesn’t cause Ronald to become more wary when using the basepaths, which are a valuable asset for the Braves.
After fretting about the possibility of having to live without Ronald Acuña Jr. for a while, it’s refreshing to hear some positive news.
