The Detroit Lions should sign another defensive back, according to Woodward Sports media personality Eazy, hours after they re-signed free agent CB Emmanuel Moseley. Safety Quandre Diggs was one that the organization parted ways with four and a half years ago.
The Seattle Seahawks dismissed the 31-year-old safety on March 5, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, who is now searching for a new team.
After being freed, Diggs said on X (previously Twitter) that he was “forever grateful.” Eazy replied to Diggs’ post on Twitter, simply saying, “Before you ask, the answers yes.”
From 2015 to 2019, Diggs spent four and a half seasons playing in Detroit. The Seahawks received him from the Lions in exchange for a 2020 fifth-round pick and a 2021 seventh-round pick.
Diggs and the Seahawks agreed to a three-year, $39 million contract in March 2022. Before being released, he was supposed to start the last year of that contract.
Veteran Safety Quandre Diggs, selected by the Lions in the sixth round of the 2015 NFL Draft, is released by the Seahawks. As a rookie, he was selected for the squad and even started four games.
Diggs recorded 324 total tackles during his four and a half seasons with the Seahawks, including three tackles for loss. In addition, he has 18 interceptions and 32 pass defenses.
On March 5, Diggs was let go by Seattle along with two other veterans, tight end Will Dissly and fellow safety Jamal Adams, as part of a salary dump. The Seahawks were able to release all three players and save approximately $25.25 million in cap space.
Seattle avoided paying the $11 million salary ceiling by cutting Diggs alone.
