The Pittsburgh Steelers declared that they and standout linebacker Alex Highsmith had reached an end of their agreement to end their contract.
The linebacker and the organization came to an agreement to end his deal, meaning he will notplay for Pittsburgh for at least the next five seasons.
He is promised approximately $27.7 million in income under the terms of the new, four-year contract, which is valued at $68 million. The first two years will bring in $38 million for him.
Before the start of training camp for the final year of Highsmith’s rookie contract, the Steelers wanted to secure his services due to his breakout performance during the 2022 season.
With this new deal, the UNC Charlotte product will rank among the NFL’s top 10 highest-paid pass rushers.
After agreeing to the new deal, Highsmith gave a speech in which he expressed his gratitude to the Pittsburgh organization and expressed his satisfaction at being a Steeler:
