Enviably, the Washington Commanders are positioned to select second overall in one of the most talented quarterback draft classes in recent memory. Zach Ertz, Austin Ekeler, and Bobby Wagner are just a few of the elite players the Commanders have added during the offseason. The quarterback spot is the one aspect they haven’t yet addressed.
Although all indications point to Washington selecting a quarterback with the second choice, head coach Dan Quinn, who was just hired, is not giving up much in the lead-up to the draft.
According to Quinn, it would be reasonable to assume that we would be selecting a quarterback, as reported by NFL insider Tom Pelissero. To clarify the location, I believe it would be best to ask (general manager)
According to a recent article on NFL.com, Quinn insists that the team is still determining which quarterback is the greatest fit for the organisation and is working closely with Peters to reach that decision.
Caleb Williams of USC appears to be the clear first pick, with the former Heisman Trophy winner impressing NFL evaluators with his accomplishments during his final two seasons with the Trojans. If the Chicago Bears do choose the highly regarded 22-year-old, there are still plenty of options available.
On several mock drafts, LSU’s Jayden Daniels is anticipated to be the second quarterback selected. Last season, the dual threat quarterback finished with 3812 passing yards, a 72.2 completion percentage, and 40 touchdowns.
When asked about potentially moving the second overall pick, Quinn said that other teams have expressed interest, but it is normal at this time of year.
“Yes, I would say it’s ringing, and because, as you said, of the talent of the group this year…”But that is part of the process, and you have to do your due diligence to listen and find out just to be sure, like is there something that you really couldn’t refuse?” added Quinn.
